The scientific programme for the 8th International Conference on the Scientific and Clinical Applications of Magnetic Carriers has now been decided.

The meeting is devoted to the preparation, analysis, use and application of magnetic microspheres and nanoparticles in basic and clinical research. With 95 talks and 231 posters, this is the largest programme ever. Coverage includes:
• Preparation and characterization of magnetic particles and ferrofluids
In vitro applications: specific extraction and separation of cells and other molecules, stem cell research, high-throughput analysis, biomedicine
• Nanotechnology, lab on a chip, ultrasensitive magnetic bioassays
• Clinical applications: magnetic drug delivery, magnetic fluid hyperthermia, MR imaging, nuclear medicine, cancer treatment, artificial organs, magnetic blood detoxification

The meeting will take place in Rostock, Germany, from May 25-29, 2010. For details, please check out www.magneticmicrosphere.com/meetings/meet2010

• For readers interested in biomedical applications of magnetic nanoparticles, why not check out our recent video interview with Kevin O'Grady, professor of physics at the University of York, UK. O'Grady puts the technology in perspective by explaining how advances in chemistry and a better understanding of the underlying physics of magnetic nanoparticles have led to a boom in clinical applications.
