LONGMONT, CO, 7 May 2012 – Acertara Acoustic Laboratories, the world’s only independent ISO/IEC17025:2005 accredited medical ultrasound acoustic measurement and testing laboratory, announces that its research and development team has been awarded three new United States patents in as many weeks. US patents 8,159,900, 8,164,976, and 8,169,853, authored by John Timms, James Gessert, Matthew Fitzgibbons, and G. Wayne Moore are related to novel technology designed to validate the performance of diagnostic ultrasound systems. The R&D team members of Acertara have been awarded more than 30 United States patents.
Commenting on the patents G. Wayne Moore President and CEO of Acertara, said; “The process for filing these three patents started almost five years ago when the Acertara R&D team was part of Sonora Medical Systems. Our focus was to create technologies that would allow independent verification of both ultrasound systems as well as ultrasound probes. Our initial effort in this regard was to create the industry standard probe testing device known as FirstCall. The newly issued patents relate to evaluating the performance of an ultrasound system independent of the probe. Our team is currently developing additional new and novel technologies for use in both diagnostic as well as therapeutic ultrasound, one of which, known as Artis, was recently released at the annual meeting of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine”
