This being the time of year for making plans and setting goals, we've got lots of new editorial initiatives in the pipeline for 2008. Alongside the usual mix of daily news, analysis and commentary on all things medical physics, there'll be more print supplements (we'll publish four issues of the medicalphysicsweb review this year) and an increasing emphasis on conference blogs (the first one of the year will provide daily coverage from the Biomedical Optics Symposium in San Jose, CA, later this month).

Coming up in the first quarter we're also planning to introduce "view by subject" functionality on the website (allowing readers to home in on their field of interest, whether it's medical imaging, radiation therapy, biomedical optics or nanomedicine).

If you're a newcomer to medicalphysicsweb and its related products, why not kick off the new year by signing up as a member. Membership is free of charge and will take just a few minutes of your time when you click on the link, top right of this page.

Membership gives you and your colleagues a number of benefits: access to premium-content articles that are not generally available; a weekly e-newswire delivered direct to your desk; and a commenting facility to register your opinion on breaking stories. If you work in industry, membership gives you a free corporate listing in our company directory, as well as the opportunity to post new product information in our Products and Services channel.

Whatever your specialism - fundamental research, clinical practice or technology development - we look forward to working with you in the year to come.
