Algorithm streamlines brachytherapy planning
A new treatment-planning method developed by a team from the University of California at San Francisco, US, has the potential to improve prostate brachytherapy for patients and oncologists alike. An inverse planning algorithm with a set of parameters, known as a class solution, will enable most of the treatment planning to be done by a computer, vastly reducing the cost of the procedure and the time it takes (Medical Physics 33 2773).
