US gets ready for 256-slice CT
Researchers at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and its Heart Institute are preparing to install the first beta 256-slice CT scanner in the US. The works-in-progress system from Toshiba America Medical Systems is due to arrive at the Baltimore site early next month. A series of animal and clinical studies will begin shortly afterwards, subject to ethics board approval and radiation measurements.
