PET tracer homes in on Alzheimer's
The clinical diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease is often only possible late in the disease's progression, and once it has already caused brain damage. A new PET imaging agent developed at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), could identify the hallmarks of Alzheimer's before any noticeable symptoms occur. Now, Siemens Medical Solutions (Malvern, PA) is teaming up with UCLA researchers to initiate clinical trials using this new imaging biomarker.
