PET/MRI: from theory into practice
The successful merger of PET and CT technologies into a single unit has undoubtedly turned out to be a big clinical hit. Few oncology departments would now purchase a stand-alone PET scanner when they could have a PET/CT instrument instead. The fusion of PET and MRI has proved to be more challenging, but here too it seems that technical obstacles are being overcome. The question is: will anybody want the scanners?
