Brachytherapy, without radioisotopes
The Axxent Brachytherapy System - a tiny X-ray source that's small enough to insert into the body - delivers high-dose-rate radiation treatment without the use of radioactive isotopes. Now, having just treated its first patient and pulled in a $33.2 million round of financing, Axxent's manufacturer Xoft (Fremont, CA) is speeding towards the commercialization of its so-called electronic brachytherapy system.
