Arsenic's imaging makeover
Arsenic is one of those elements with a bit of an image problem - and not without reason. The "king of poisons", or "inheritance powder" as it's also known, was much abused during the Middle Ages when Europe's ruling classes developed a fondness for chemically assisted homicide to secure riches and power ahead of their rivals. Fast forward a few hundred years, however, and it seems that arsenic is poised for something of a rehabilitation.
