Different takes on imaging Alzheimer's
Alzheimer's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder and the most common cause of dementia. While there's no cure for the disease, clinically proven treatments can slow its progress - especially if administered at an early stage. Currently, however, there's no definitive means of diagnosing Alzheimer's, with doctors instead relying on medical history, physical exams and neuropsychological assessments. To address this shortfall, researchers are looking to medical imaging for early detection of neurological disorders.
