Prostate shows varying response to PDT
X-ray irradiation of prostate tumours must be planned with great care, given the close proximity of the prostate to other sensitive organs. The same applies to photodynamic therapy (PDT), where the prostate is irradiated with light. In fact, treatment planning is even more important in this type of therapy, given the use of photosensitizing drugs coupled with variations in light and drug distribution across the prostate.
