DMLC tracking: accurate and efficient
Tumour motion during radiation delivery is problematic when treating tumours in the abdomen, prostate and thorax, and can negate the benefits of using intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for conformal dose delivery. While respiratory gating can help compensate for target motion, it comes with an inherent trade-off between spatial accuracy and delivery efficiency. Now, a US collaboration has proposed a motion compensation solution that's claimed to combine dosimetric accuracy with efficient delivery.
