VMAT: good for glioma?
Intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) makes it easier to target brain tumours whilst reducing dose to critical structures nearby. Such damage-limitation strategies are increasingly important for patients with high-grade glioma who are benefiting from combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy programmes. As a growing proportion of these patients join the ranks of the long-term survivors, late radiation effects are becoming a real consideration.
