QA check for radiotracer generator
Ready access to radiotracers is a major barrier to the wider use of PET. Radiopharmaceuticals should ideally be used as quickly as possible after production, given their short half-life. However, the size and cost of equipment needed to make radiotracers often means that centralized manufacture is the only economically viable option. Although some large hospitals and clinics are able to support on-site tracer production, smaller facilities must buy in supplies from their neighbours, or if they are not near a radiopharmacy, go without.
