Simplest dose-response model works best
Radiotherapy for head-and-neck cancer can sometimes inadvertently damage the glands that make saliva, leaving patients with problems eating, drinking and swallowing. Several models have been developed that can show the chance of a proposed treatment plan causing complications in normal tissue. Attempts to validate these models have, however, been hampered by the lack of available clinical data.
