Magnetic measurements home in on stroke
Magnetic induction tomography (MIT) is a non-contact method for mapping the electromagnetic properties of tissue. It works by measuring perturbations caused by objects within an applied magnetic field and, as magnetic fields easily penetrate the skull, could prove suitable for imaging conductivity changes within the brain. As such, MIT is under investigation for detection of brain lesions such as cerebral haemorrhage.
