Description:
The objective of this course is to discuss our current understanding of the tumor microenvironment and their relationship with metastasis. Emphasis will be placed on their pathophysiological significance and clinical relevance.

Most cancer research to date has focused on understanding the biology of tumor cells in vitro with limited attention paid to the in vivo microenvironment in which these cells reside. Since nothing can reach tumor cells from blood without passing through the vascular and interstitial compartments, it seems reasonable to find out more about the structure and function of these two compartments.
